Author of Contemporary Fantasy
I write stories inspired by the rural landscapes and quiet strangeness of my Southern Indiana home. My debut novel, Dead Weather Almanac, is a story of magical memory, small-town folklore, and the price of preservation.
About
Travis B. Martin
Travis grew up in southern Indiana, where farming shaped his early life before he traded tractors for technology. He now works as a PLC Maintenance technician for an automotive parts plant, but his stories draw inspiration from rural landscapes and the quiet strangeness hidden in small-town life. Today, he still lives in the town where it all began, sharing that sense of place with his wife and daughter. Dead Weather Almanac is his debut novel.
When not working or writing, he enjoys being a Maker. He focuses on 3D printing, hobby electronics, and programming. His builds range from dioramas to full cosplay armor.

A 67,000-word Contemporary Fantasy
For fans of the surreal, small-town strangeness of Welcome to Night Vale and the grief-centric folklore of The Ocean at the End of the Lane.
Erik Brosten, an Electrical Engineering student, plans to spend his summer renovating his late grandfather’s farmhouse—a task he hopes will help him process his grief. But his guilt runs deep; he’s the family "fixer" who abandoned his farming legacy for a future in tech.
He arrives in Brumfall, Indiana, a town protected by a supernatural "blister" called the Fold and tended by Thanophyta, the Goddess of Decay. When Erik, true to his nature, tries to "fix" the house by installing a digital doorbell, his modern tech shatters the analog magic of the Fold .
This "Analog Rupture" halts all decay, starving the town’s magical barley crops and summoning the Nomis Corporation—a horde of literal, robotic Data Miners . Their mission: to index, catalogue, and extract every memory from the town, rendering it a sterile, valueless shell .
Haunted by his mistake—"I'm nothing if I can't keep things running" —Erik must ally with the reclusive goddess. He must now trade his modern tools for ancient lore, racing to find a way to heal the Fold before the Nomis miners extract the town's very soul. But saving Brumfall will require a sacrifice he never anticipated, forcing him to choose between the future he planned and the forgotten past he broke.
